Gateshead Gurkhas

“The Gateshead Gurkhas” refers to the 9th Battalion of  the Durham Light Infantry (9DLI), a distinguished Territorial Army unit formed in then 1860s.  Known for their service in both World Wars, they earned this nickname through their tenacity and high standards, notably serving in Sicily in 1943, and are documented in Harry Moses’ book
